Johnson Hall, a new building and home for the College of Engineering School of Chemical, Biological, and Environmental Engineering opened for fall term 2016. This new building provides much better access for the school's facilities than previous locations in Gleeson and other older facilities.

Adjacent to Johnson Hall, 26th Street was rebuild during the summer of 2016 between Campus Way and Monroe Ave. This project in addition to sidewalks and parking installed at Johnson Hall, greatly improved access in this area of campus and from the housing and business north of campus to the campus core.
